LEUCHIE HOUSE
East Lothian Ladies Charity of the Year 2020
After an enjoyable and successful year working with Karele Equine as 2019 Charity of the Year, East Lothian Ladies is excited to announce a new Charity of the Year for 2020.
Leuchie House is Scotland’s only national respite charity dedicated to supporting people with long term conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, the effects of stroke and Parkinson’s by giving them an invaluable holiday tailored to their unique needs. Enabled by 24-hour specialist care, Leuchie staff focus on giving guests an outstanding experience, based on their preferences and needs, irrespective of their condition. Importantly while doing this, Leuchie provides an essential break for carers, many of whom haven’t had a break in years.
Leuchie is the ONLY respite centre its kind in Scotland, and one of only a few available in the UK.
In 2015, Leuchie House delivered 6,100 respite days.
Leuchie relies on philanthropic support of many generous individuals, businesses and trusts/organisations to subsidise the cost of every break by half, making our short breaks affordable and accessible for all who need them. We need to fundraise to ensure Leuchie can progress into the future with confidence, thereby ensuring those who benefit most from what Leuchie offers can be confident in their own futures too.
Leuchie is unique – like a hotel, Leuchie offers delicious home-cooked meals, entertainment, activities, outings, exercise classes, therapies (like beauty and wellbeing therapies) whilst also offering specialist in-house physio, wheelchair & equipment fixes and, importantly, preventative referrals.
Throughout 2020, East Lothian Ladies will be giving five percent of all profits to Leuchie House, in addition to £1 from every membership token sale. We will also be looking for additional ways to help them fund raise and encouraging our members to donate whatever they can afford throughout the year.
